The Degree Programme in Tourism emphasises the knowledge of different cultures and international business environments, business studies and networking with international operators. Core competences are international tourism, cultural and event tourism, destination management and planning as well as tourism management.
Studies in the degree programme are Core Studies of UAS (12 credits), Language and Intercultural Competence (27 credits), Business Skills (42 credits), Marketing and Product Development (21 credits), Business Models in Tourism (24 cerdits) and International Development Skills (24 credits). The focus of Language Skills and Intercultural Competence is on languages and cross cultural behavior. Business Skills will develope the know how of accounting and management , Marketing and Product Development and Business Models increases the necessary knowledge in international marketing, planning and promoting destinations and events. International Development Skills will provide knowledge of the global environment of tourim. Additionally, the student needs to choose 15 credits of voluntary studies to complete his degree programme and to deepen his own specialisation in tourism.
Studying and working in the field of tourism take place in an international and multicultural environment which requires versatile language skills and a good knowledge of foreign cultures. Thus, studies in the degree programme support student’s growing to an international and multicultural human being. Moreover, students are supported to do a part of their studies and practical training abroad at one of our partner universities.
Bachelor of Hospitality Management may apply for expertise duties for example in international travel trade and in local travel companies. After graduation they may work in planning, managing and marketing jobs in the field of tourism. Graduates have learnt about customer orientation, and they have a good knowledge in eBusiness. They also know about the global trends and future development in the field of tourism.
